Hands stretched out to God

Long for Salvation of Souls

“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”  Zechariah 12:10

A certain young boy peered into the store window at a bright blue bicycle.  Only two more days and that bike would be in his home.  Yes, this bike was the fulfillment of a promised birthday present.  Over the years he longed for the time when his parents felt that he was, in their eyes, mature enough to navigate the streets of his own home town.  That bicycle was his promised freedom!  It was his wheels to a fuller tomorrow, where he could explore the many wonders of the town in which he lived.

Almost every person has longed for something.  God, Who is not willing for anyone to perish, longs for souls to accept the wonderful salvation He prepared for them.  That salvation is the answer to their present needs, as well as their eternal destiny.  It is the best gift God has for mankind!  We, as His people, can share in that longing for souls.  We can make it part of our focus and daily prayer life, too.  Like God, we can long for others, Jew and Gentile, to know Him!

Let’s ensure we seek God until we long for souls!
